You can let your friends know where you are (or perhaps were you want to go), by using rhub's presence feature. When you set your location, rhub will notify your friends.
You set your presence using the console (i.e, via the web, MSN Messenger, Jabber/Gtalk, email or a text message), or when viewing a location on rhub's website click the "I'm Here Now" button.
The command syntax for setting your location is:
@[location name or alias]
For example, to set your location to 'axon':
@axon
You can also set a status message at the same time by adding it after a colon or equals sign (':' or '=') using this syntax:
@[location name or alias]= [status message] or @[location name or alias]: [status message]
For example, to set your location to 'cafe' and set a message:
@cafe=Doing some work here for a bit
If rhub doesn't recognise the location you've specified, it'll just treat the location like a bit of text. This means people viewing your context information can still see what you've set, but it won't be nicely hyperlinked and show extra info about the location.
Note: If you're setting your location via your phone, you won't receive a response if everything worked.
There are a bunch of other options, read more.
Navigate to the location you are at (start by clicking 'locations' at the top right of the page) and click the "I'm Here Now" button which appears at the right-hand side.
If you don't want rhub to notify people when you set your location, add an underscore at the end, for example:
@pub_
The command to unset your location is:
@
And that's it. Rhub will also automatically unset your location after a few hours.
If you want to specify you are at home base, use @home. Your home address is not shown to anyone unless you've allowed them to via your privacy controls. If they don't have access to your address, they'll just be told you're "at home".
Your location is available to anyone with access to your presence information. It is displayed in presence gems, as well as the Presence page. Also, if your friends often set their location to the place you've just specified, they'll get a notification.
